The Wilson Van rolls into Bristol

BRISTOL, Va. — The Wilson brothers will return to Southwest Virginia for a Black Friday concert at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol.Under the name The Wilson Van, the brothers have raised more than $300,000 for area charities, playing favorite hits from the 80s and some of their own original songs.This year's Black Friday show is scheduled to support Junior Appalachian Musicians, a news release states, through a partnership between Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol and The Wilson Family Foundation — The Wilson Van's family nonprofit organization."We're proud to partner with The Wilson Family Foundation to support music education in our region," Darin Cralle, director of entertainment at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol, said in the release. "It means a lot to help give back right here at home, and we're grateful to The Wilson Van for teaming up with us to make it happen."Patrick Wilson starred in Adriana Trigiani's film "Big Stone Gap" as Jack MacChesney alongside Ashley Judd. Paul Wilson also appeared in the movie as Lyle Making; his brother Mark even made a cameo in the bluegrass band.Their father John is a native of Big Stone Gap, the release states, and the group enjoys being able to return to the region."We appreciate our roots here now more than ever and are excited to be able to give back, especially to JAM," Patrick Wilson said in the release. "We appreciate what they do preserving and promoting local music and it's an honor to be able to help."Mike Ringley of Surgoinsville will join The Wilson Van on stage Friday. Local duo If Birds Could Fly will open the show at 7 p.m.The concert will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe inside the casino, the release states.
