Will you be an outstanding community pet parent

As we close in on Thanksgiving we have so much to give thanks for this year especially the outstanding pet parents of Johnson County.We want to take the time to say "thank you" for going above and beyond for your pets and helping us make our community stronger together. It can become easy for us to focus on the neglect we see daily, but we are striving to concentrate on the beautiful families and their animals we see on a weekly basis. This gives us all encouragement and hope for a brighter future.Wouldn't it be wonderful if the words neglect and abuse no longer existed in our vocabulary? Only in a perfect world, but couldn't we strive for that world every single day? Couldn't we fight together as humanity, as a community, to make that world truly come to be? We believe we can or at least we should try.We are so incredibly proud of the amazing pet parents who exhibit such compassion, strength and unwavering love toward their animals. We are given a newfound hope on the darkest of days when we see a true, loving owner giving of themselves for their pet.An outstanding pet parent will never give up when times get hard, but always find a way. An outstanding pet parent will think of their pet's comfort in terms of their own comfort .. "it's too cold for me, so little Susie isn't going out either." An outstanding pet parent will spare no expense regardless of the size of their checkbook, "what little Susie wants, little Susie gets." These are the families we salute and we cannot thank you enough for the light you bring into this world.So, here is what we have planned. We want to celebrate you! The seven days prior to Thanksgiving, we will choose one outstanding pet parent each day. Through a sponsorship by Tom and Becky Stanley at Black Bear we will have a gift card or gift certificate for each winner from either Food Lion, WalMart, Visa, Keywood Animal Clinic, VCA Highlands, Creature Comfort Veterinary Care and Four on the Floor Dog Training.Make sure to check our Facebook page daily and listen to WMCT to our Pet Patrol Segment as we will announce the winner each day.
